Brutal Music for Brutal People!
January 9th, 2026
Heyyyy, my name is Malena and welcome to my blog! As of now, I am a freshman legal studies student who would like to become a district attorney, and more specifically would like to prosecute crimes against children, police brutality, and cybercrime. Besides my aspirations, my interests musically are brutal death metal, grindcore, goregrind, deathgrind, and some thrash. I listen to other metal, but those are my faves... Besides music (although I won't post much else) are poetry, sewing, writing, video essays, making playlists, burning cds, vintage and diy fashion, punk culture, leftist politics... Essentially, I am a stem lesbian with too much time on thier hands and wants to talk about music because everyone at college is lame when it comes to music taste lolllll. I also have a tiktok account that I post daily on if you wanna take a peek lol (@mally_maggot). Anyways, I hope you'll stick around because I'll try and update this weekly if I can even tho my coding skills are lowk kinda buns.

Comments: This album is very nostalgic for me as I got into more brutal death metal bands beyond just Cannibal Corpse and Deicide and was a good segway into my later interest in pornogrind. The vocals itch a part of my brain I can't scratch, the little metal tings, the guitar work, those damn drums... It's orgasmic and everything that makes brutal death metal one of my favorite genres. This is the kind of music you could beat someone up to or vogue like a drag queen and I say that in all seriousness. And before you ask, YES this review is extremely biased but I don't care. This is my little guilty pleasure album and I love her.

Comments: Due to the wide variety of tracks, this album is really a mixed bag of bangers, short hard hitters, and some that simply don't stick out to me. They're lower rated ones are not low due to poor composition or lack of musical talent by any means, but based on how likely I am to add to my groovy-grind playlist... Like, would I play it on the aux with my other crust pals? But their good tracks on this are unmatched and are on par with Rich Hoak's past role in Brutal Truth. Additionally, their live performances are phenomenal and I would reccomend listening to those if you want a more "raw" feel while not sacrificing quality that comes with demos. I'd even argue some of the live performances outshine the OG recording, but I digress, these guys eat.

Comments: I usually find wet-gurgle sounds to be lazy in comparision to usual grindcore yells, but the execution here makes me honestly like them more lol. The highlights here in my opinion are the nonstop drums (nothing below 100bpm a minute babyyyyy) and the varying vocals. The one main critique I have is that some of the songs are really forgettable as anything below a 10/10 gets lost in the other stuff. Like, the shorter tracks feel outshined by the other songs sandwiching em in, which is unusual for grindcore as the shortest songs tend to solidify the central themes, but in goregrind that can be difficult unless it is a niche within goregrind besides guts and various oozes (ex:medical malpractice, animal testing, etc.)... All i get here is that there is a penis on the cover that is objectively hilarious so I'll leave you with that. Once again, updates may slow down as I just got back to campus and between classes I may not post as much but I'll try! Check out my tiktok tho, I post every morning on there.

Angels ~ 10/10
Entropy ~ 8/10
Crippled Minions ~ 7/10
In the Grip of Winter (Autopsy cover) ~ 10/10
Comments: These guys are criminally underrated and only have 112 listeners on Spotify as I write this. Even though they are split up, this band is literally fire. The guitars, vocals and drums are phenomenal and everyday I mourn the loss of these guys as they should be right up there with the BDM GOATS like Skinless and Autopsy... Like, please come back twin. Metal sucks now, and Dave Mustaine's new Megadeath album is lowkey buns---WE NEED MORE SMALL BRUTAL BANDS, I'M BEGGING YOU!!

Mass Sociogenic Illness by Headmeat
Released August 2005

Tracks:
Burning Dogma ~ 7.3/10
Angels vs. Insects ~ 10/10
Consumed by Fire ~ 9/10
Diggin' Up Some Stiffs ~ 10/10
Boern' Weelei ~ 10/10
Perfect Murder Sequence ~ 6/10
Randomly Raped ~ 7/10
Unborn & Malformed ~ 9/10
Comments: Honestly, the more melodic aspects along with the grindcore influence is absolutely brutal. I usually DETEST melodic slow shit because it just becomes doom metal with none of the pizazz and aura. I found the use of experimental electronic sounds to not really be too up my alley, but I'd rather support innovation that's just "meh" than to glaze another copy and paste meme slam band. I can recongnize what is good music, but I wouldn't really choose this over something like Razorrape, but that's just my taste twin. Idk, if I wanna feel like a fucked up evil wizard stirring a cauldron of human remains, maybe I'll pick this album up.

Tracks:
I Raped Your Goddess ~ 7/10
Tears of Red ~ 5/10
Facial Amputation ~ 8/10
Onset (Of What Is to Be) ~ 5/10
Acid Bath ~ 4/10
Loathing In Contempt ~ 6/10
Smoke Inhalation of Your Own Flesh ~ 3/10
The Human Animal Preserved ~ 7/10
Comments:It's not a bad album---far from it! But, I do think the body in production could'e used a little more substance than what is offered here. Like, at some point the guitar work sounds weirdly weak? Technicality critiques aside, it is simple and carries it's weight to stay brutal through all eight tracks, so I'll cut em a little slack. I will say, they were ahead of their time with the implementation of grindcore elements in brutal death metal. I'm just absurdly nuetral when it comes to this one. No moments made me feel shivers or any deep revelations, but it isn't something I'd clown on someone for enjoying. I just happen to like a little bit more "oomph" to my metal, that's all. It's just absurdly mid.

Redneck Abomination ~ 9.2/10
God F... The Queen ~ 9/10
Virulent Putrefaction ~ 8.8/10
Prostate Destruction ~ 8/10
Comments: In the least Paris Hilton way of saying this, the composition on this album is so fucking hot---the intros don't overstay their welcome, their vocals are varied in style, the guitars slam and the drums grind, and it keeps the overaching chaotic melody. All of the songs blend into eachother really nice too without sounding too much like the same thing over and over again. I really gotta hand it to em with this one because they cooked ngl.
